A Brief History of NBCLand

Welcome! This page aims to documnent/summarise the major events of NBCLand's History. This is all read and approved by His Excellency David Sarnoff and a select committee of historians.

NOTE: THIS TIMELINE USES THE NON-CHRISTIAN BEFORE COMMON ERA/COMMON ERA SYSTEM.

Pre-History(-4500 BCE - ~800 CE)

The area NBCLand currently resides in has been inhabited for thousands of years. In fact, it's now considered one of the "cradles of civilization"(CITATION NEEDED). Historically, the lands have been inhabited by many different people groups, including Wiseans, hence the reason why Wisea is such a historic ally to NBCLand. The first nation to be established appears to be named West Kimberley(CITATION NEEDED), though barely any written records exist that make any mention of this nation. It is unknown where the West in its name came from.

Beginnings (~800 CE)

NBCLand presumably was founded in the late 800's CE, as the Kingdom of NBCLand. It ruled over approximately 30-35% of what NBCLand controls today, and was situated far more north than the country is today. One of the first cities to be founded was Corporate Wage Slave City, though back when it was founded it was referred to as "General Electric". Around this time, Wiseans began migrating to NBCLand, bringing their... unique culture with them. This is the main reason why NBCLand is a space-faring nation today.

Political Shake-ups (~800 CE - 1800 CE)

For most of the 1st and 2nd Millenniums, NBCLand was a relatively peaceful country, though during the 18th century large political reforms began, as NBCLand had abolished feudalism, and was one of the first republics in its region. Most notably, the monarchy was violently overthrown in January 1756, and in its place a republic was established. The events that took place in NBCLand were replicated in Wisea many years later. For a while after this republic was established, NBCLand was politically turbulent until it eventually subsided by the turn of the 19th century.

Contemporary Era (1801 CE - 2024 CE)

NBCLand in the 18th century was characterized as an era of change. Industrialisation had been slammed into full throttle by 1801, and the republic was more stable than ever. The steady population growth began to grow rapidly as technology advanced and more people moved to cities. The teachings of a certain person had made waves across NBCLand by the 1840s, and the era of revolution began to regain its footing. By 1848, NBCLand had been politically unstable again, as the same began to happen in Wisea. By the 20th century, NBCLand was a replica of its 18th century self, with governments coming and going. However, by 1908, a certain political movement had fully cemented its position. NBCLand had become a socialist nation.

This era was characterised with its rapid technological development, paralleled with the same development that had occurred barely a century earlier. In the 1960s, NBCLand was a rich, prosperous nation, led by one Joseph Snow, born in Wisea to NBCLandian parents.

He was also the same person to begin NBCLandian space exploration, and by the end of the 1960s had made it to the Moon. In 1991, Joseph Snow resigned, causing David Sarnoff to be elected as the new leader in 1992. In 2020, NBCLand began its first major military campaign against Brasilistan. We have been advised not to elaborate further.

And in 2024, NBCLand reached record levels of Income Equality, a feat only dreamed by people over 100 years ago, when the system was first implemented. Oh, and theres this thing called the Internet now. Weird.
